Challenge Ministries UK
Eswatini (previously called Swaziland) is a vibrant, diverse nation with just over 1 million residents, that boasts a rich culture and heritage, yet faces significant challenges. Unemployment and poverty are high. As of early 2026, the unemployment rate was one of the highest in the world - with IMF and Statista stating that it has ranged between 34% and 37% in recent years. Youth unemployment sits at a staggering 49%. An estimated 87% of the population live below the poverty line. The country also has the world's highest prevalence of HIV - at 27%. The AIDS epidemic wiped out an entire generation of working age adults, leaving only children and elderly. It is estimated that over half of the population are vulnerable children and over 200,000 of these are orphans. Against this background, Challenge Ministries works with the government's Social Welfare organisation, holistically caring for over 400 orphaned and vulnerable children. They are responsible for the total care of the child, from infant to adulthood and further eduction. IGO (Europe) is proud to support their work through the "Sponsor a Child" programme and by providing Further Education Bursaries. CAP is a UK organisation dedicated to support those that find themselves trapped in debt. CAP regularly undertakes polling to assess the state of debt in UK. In their 2025 poll (undertaken by Opinium) CAP found that 49% of people have considered suicide as a way out of debt before seeking help and 12% of UK adults have skipped a meal to save money at least once a week in the last year. Poverty is so much more than "going without". Poverty destroys lives. It robs people of joy, hope and opportunities. It tears families apart, isolates those in most need of support and leads many to believe that there is no way out. The Wye Valley CAP Debt Help Centre is committed to providing personalized solutions and guidance for those struggling with debt in Ross on Wye and the surrounding area.
